How to Be a Networking Pro

Anyone in business knows the value of networking. Being actively connected to many professionals can lead you to big opportunities. BUT there is definitely an art to doing it the right way.


Here are my Top Five ways to be a NETWORKING PRO.

  1. Take Action- Unless you have clout built, you can't expect other business types to reach out socially. Everyone that's successful has many obligations and already talking to large networks. Now, this doesn't mean they aren't open to connecting, but it will be on you to reach out.                            

  2. Be Sincere- Rule of thumb. BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING. When talking to professionals shine the light on them. Ask them what's going on in their lives, not yours. You need to be appreciative by valuing them.                                                     

  3. Provide Value- At the end of the day, we are in business. Meaning what can you provide to make someone's life better? Leverage what you offer as a token of goodwill.                                                  

  4. Find a Common Ground- Do some research on whom you are looking to connect with. What interests and hobbies do they have? Do you have something in common with them? By finding a common ground you can have a solid foundation for a relationship.                                                         

  5. Maintain the Relationship- Just because you talked to someone once doesn't mean you're truly connected. You must stay active in maintaining the relationship so it can grow, and develop.
